Using waste that harms the environment and needs to be disposed of as a valuable energy source in its own technology, INEVA has completed the construction of a facility that will generate electrical energy from the treatment sludge coming out of the Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant in Başiskele Kullar, operated by the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration (İSU). Planning to put the facility into operation in the second quarter of the year, INEVA will thus dispose of 95 tons of sludge per day through thermal processing with high efficiency. The established facility will also generate 960 kWh of electricity per hour from steam energy within the scope of renewable energy.
INEVA Çevre Teknolojileri AŞ General Manager Onur Taş emphasized that INEVA is the first completely domestic organization that performs thermal processing with 100% Turkish technology and shared his views on the facility that will become operational as follows: In the current system, sludge was burned in cement factories. This also brought a great financial burden to İSU. Thanks to the facilities we will establish, ISU will eliminate the sludge without the need for drying, fulfilling all environmental criteria, and at the same time, it will obtain electrical energy. We will save energy by using the electricity produced in our facilities in Kocaeli as renewable energy. In addition, by preventing 10 thousand tons of CO2 emissions annually, the facility we established will undertake the task of preventing CO2 emissions of approximately 2 hectares of forest.
