INEVA is establishing Turkey’s largest facility that produces electrical energy from industrial sludge. As a result of the agreement made with Gaziantep OSB, the investment that will convert treatment sludge into energy has been initiated.
INEVA, which uses waste that harms the environment and needs to be disposed of as a valuable energy source in its own technology, has won the tender for the Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zone – Domestic and Industrial Treatment Sludge Disposal Energy Production Project. Planning to complete the installation of 4 machines in 2018, INEVA will thus dispose of 240 tons of sludge per day by thermal processing. 2.5 MW of electricity per hour will also be produced from steam energy within the scope of renewable energy in the established facility.
INEVA Environmental Technologies General Manager Onur Taş stated in a written statement: INEVA, whose technology was developed by Turkish engineers, produces technological solutions that add value to waste by producing energy from sludge with fluidized bed combustion technology. It stands out as a solution partner for organized industrial zones and municipalities in this field. He emphasized that thermal disposal and energy recovery system designs were developed through R&D studies and drew attention to the fact that they work with a vision of expertise dedicated to the environment. Taş, who pointed out that the disposal of treatment sludge is one of the biggest problems of our age, said that the system we developed as a result of R&D studies conducted with TÜBİTAK between 2008-2009 and implemented without the need for a drying process is the first thermal disposal project put into operation with 100% domestic capital. Thanks to the system we use for the disposal of treatment plant sludge, we carry out the thermal disposal of treatment plant sludge with high efficiency without pre-treatment. After İSU (Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality İzmit Water Works), we will now convert the sludge coming out of Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zone Domestic and Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plants into electrical energy. Thanks to the facilities we will establish, GAOSB will dispose of the sludge by burning it without the need for a drying process and at the same time obtain electrical energy, he said.
Onur Taş also said that they will earn approximately 9.5 million liras of electrical energy sales revenue annually from the steam generated when sludge is burned in the Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zone - Domestic and Industrial Treatment Sludge Disposal Energy Production Project facilities to be built in Gaziantep.
On the other hand, INEVA General Manager Onur Taş reminded that the foundations of İNEVA Çevre Teknolojileri AŞ, which was established to eliminate foreign dependency and contribute to the country's economy by localizing waste disposal facilities, were laid in 2004. Onur Taş stated that the 'Thermal Disposal' technology they developed together with TÜBİTAK was the environmental project that received the highest grant rate in the year the project was carried out and the first waste incineration project to be put into operation with completely domestic capital, and said, We have established 6 facilities in the last 3 years. We have disposed of a total of 160 thousand tons of sludge since our first facility was established. Our goal is to continue to expand the use of our technology as Ineva in determining the beneficial usage alternatives of treatment sludge as a raw material and energy source suitable for Turkey's conditions and to bring it into the economy. While producing innovative solutions to environmental problems, it aims to become the most preferred organization in terms of waste disposal technologies by rapidly increasing the number of facilities where it produces clean energy both domestically and abroad.
